We’re at a time when finding a job isn’t always easy. There aren’t a lot of jobs available and the competition is even tighter. Sometimes you just need a little help landing your dream job. This is where a recruitment agency can come to the rescue.
They offer general recruitment services to help job seekers find a position. This is anything from a temp-to-hire job to a direct-hire. They’re there to make the job hunt go smoother and stress free for you. Going this route could be the best decision you make. There are a few things to know before finding a job through a recruitment agency.
What Are You Looking For?
While all agencies offer recruitment services to job seekers, each company finds different types of jobs. For instance, some places will find positions in marketing, design and writing. Others will focus on sales or administrative type jobs. Make sure you’re reaching out to the correct agency.
Strong Skills
You’ve got strong competition out there and your skills will help you land the interview and possibly the job. Highlight all your job skills that relate to the position you’re interested in applying for. You need to show the employer you’re the best person for the job.
Even Stronger Resume
The stronger your résumé is, the stronger your chances are at landing a job interview. Companies and recruiters see hundreds of resumes each day. Having a résumé that stands out almost guarantees you a first interview. While companies don’t want long resumes, it should still be as detailed as possible. List the job duties that relate to the position you’re applying for.
Meet with an Agency
Contact the agency advertising the position you’re interested in. Send in your résumé and ask for some time to meet with them to discuss their recruitment services, the position and how you qualify for this position. Taking the initiative is another great way to stand out among the rest.
Treat this meeting like a regular job interview. Part of the recruitment services being offered is that they will present you to the client. Show them you’re the best person for the job and why.
Send in Your Best Samples
Depending on the position you’re applying for, the client might want samples of your work. Only send in your strongest samples. It’s recommended to send samples that relate to the work you would do for the company. This will prove to them that you can handle the work.
Follow Up
Recruitment agencies are always busy so it’s important to follow-up to see where the client is with the position.
