PetSmart Charities National Adoption Weekend is coming up fast, just in time for Valentine's Day. The event will be held on from Friday, Feb. 10 through Sunday, Feb. 12 at all PetSmart stores across the United States and Canada.
The goal of the adoption event is to help thousands of pets across the country find their own forever homes. Based on past events, this is not just wishful thinking. During the last National Adoption Weekend in November, 2011, 16,051 pets found new homes. In all, 4,779,517 animals have found forever families thanks to the work of PetSmart Charities and its adoption program partners.
Several local groups, including the Stray Animal Adoption Program in Newport, Ky., will be showcasing their animals at area PetSmart stores. To find out which groups will be at your local PetSmart and to learn about participation times, contact or visit your local store.
In the United States, the adoption weekend is sponsored by PetSmart, Purina Pro Plan, and Purina Tidy Cats. In addition to receiving the gift of a new furry family member, adopters will also receive a coupon for a free bag of Purina Pro Plan dog or cat food, while supplies last.
