Calling it "the biggest challenge of my life," Kim credits the low-carb, high protein Atkins diet for helping her shed the weight. She eats about 2,000 calories daily on the plan.
In addition to dieting, Kim has lost weight from breastfeeding and exercising, reported People magazine on October 23. And after struggling through her pregnancy, she's happy to be feeling like herself again.
"Pregnancy for me was a lot tougher than people saw on my show or from magazines," Kim admitted. "So to get back to feeling like myself just makes me feel good again."
For fitness, Kim has been working out at Barry's Bootcamp and Pilates Plus, according to E! News. And for those who think that Pilates doesn't burn very many calories, Kim's trainer at Pilates Plus wants to correct that assumption.
"Pilates Plus is a fusion of pilates, weight training and circuit training and it's done to muscle failure with very little transition to keep your heart rate up," Kristi Vacanti told E News.
Kristi has designed Kim's workouts so that she burns the most calories in the shortest amount of time.
"She's into toning and sculpting and getting in as much of a workout as she can in 55 minutes. People want to come in and get in a quick, fast-paced, calorie-burning workout in as little amount of time as possible," explained Kristi.
And for those who think that 2,000 calories a day sounds like a lot, Kim's breastfeeding makes a difference. Shape magazine reports that it burns up to 500 extra calories per day. Add that to the calories that Kim's burning in that Pilates class, and it's clear why she's shedding the pounds so fast.
