There really is only one way to get a Valentine that is guaranteed to last a lifetime. This is a perfect week to make a commitment that will never do you wrong because there are some great adoption specials and events. At ACCT (which is full and still receiving animals), the week of darling discounts starts on the 12th with a Fat Tuesday takedown. All chubby cats (like Princess to the left) will be FREE to adopt. There are some real friendly, furry felines to bring home and keep the party going (also- lower heating costs with their lapwarming).
The fees to find love fall further on the 14th when ALL will be discounted by 50%. (See the already-low rates in effect for February here so you can see the HUGE bargains available.) Then all weekend long, the "Be Mine" adoption extravaganza event will be taking place. Most animals will be "Pick your own price" and the rest will still be 50% off.

The best way to fall in love fast is to go to 111 W.Hunting Park Avenue (bring any dogs in the home to ensure a good match). Adoption hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekends and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. All other adoption details can be found on the ACCT website along with an adoption application. The shelter is also in desperate need of foster homes. If you want to see if you are prepared for a permanent pet, now is the time to try your hand at fostering. Go to ACCT's fostering page for details and fill out an online or downloadable application. Foster homes receive the full support of the shelter and medical needs are provided for. Additionally, there is often food available at ACCT, free to foster homes. Email foster@acctphilly.org with questions or to request any additional information.
Can't bring the love home? Share the wealth at the "Puppy Love" Valentine's Party to benefit the PSPCA at the 23rd Street Armory on Tuesday, February 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are available here.
