If you are thinking about adopting a new pet, consider visiting the Super Pet Expo this weekend. The event takes place March 15-17, 2013, at the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia.
“We are happy to welcome a variety of animal rescue organizations to our event in Chantilly,” said Eric Udler, president, Super Pet Expo. “The show promotes responsible pet ownership and helps draw attention to abandoned pets available for adoption. It provides an opportunity for those looking to adopt a new pet to meet with a number of different rescue representatives in person under one roof.”
The event is billed as the premiere shopping extravaganza and animal entertainment destination. The show organizers also promise to deliver plenty of educational opportunities during the three-day event.
Here are some of the rescue groups you will find amongst the more than 150 pet-related vendors featured at the event:
Humane Society of Fairfax County – Established in 1965, the Humane Society of Fairfax County, Inc. was formed by concerned citizens as a non-profit organization to rescue and protect animals both domestic and wild from abuse, neglect, abandonment and cruelty.
Friends of Homeless Animals – FOHA is a non-profit, no-kill shelter that focuses on the rescue and placement of homeless dogs and cats in the Northern Virginia and the Washington DC area.
Equine Rescue League – The ERL was founded by Pat Rogers in 1990 and is currently located at Promise Kept Farm near Leesburg, Virginia. Their Benefactor Program gives individuals, corporations and other organizations an opportunity to invest in the ERL's efforts to prevent equine abuse and neglect.
Only Maine Coons Rescue – OMCR is an all-volunteer rescue group that specializes in the Maine Coon Cat breed. They rescue from shelters and unwanted situations.
Caring Hands Animal Support & Education - CHASE is a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing awareness of and providing support for animal welfare initiatives.
Bunny Lu Adoptions Inc. – This is a volunteer, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) domestic rabbit rescue and education organization located in Northern Virginia.
Madison-Greene Humane Society – This small, rural animal humane society and no kill shelter is dedicated to improving the future of their community's cats and dogs. Their mission is to build a community where animals are considered family.
Rescue Ink - Rescue Ink is widely known as a group of tattooed, motorcycle-riding tough guys who have joined together to fight animal cruelty, educate abusers and help resolve situations other rescue groups cannot or will not handle themselves.
