Finals set for 2014 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament

According to the Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament website, the finals are set for the 2014 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament at Calgary's Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday.

In the boys final, the Finland U-17 team will play the Switzerland U-17 team. On Tuesday in the quarterfinals, the Finland U-17 team trounced the Alaska Junor Aces 12-4. Petrus Palmu led Finland with two goals and two assists. Finland then advanced to the finals with a 5-1 semi-final win over the Okanagan Rockets as Palmu had two goals and one assist.

The Switzerland U-17 team meanwhile won their quarterfinal game with a 6-3 win over the Regina Pat Canadians before beating the Sherwood Park Kings 7-4 in the semi-finals. The Swiss had seven goals from seven different players.

In the female final, the Fraser Valley Phantoms out of Langley, British Columbia will play the Westman Wildcats out of Hartney, Manitoba on Wednesday. In the semi-finals, the Phantoms beat High River's Highwood Raiders 6-1. Mackenzie Wong and Chelsea Wilson each scored two goals while Zoe Todd and Jodi Gentile had three assists each. In the other semi-final, Jaycee Magwood scored the overtime winner as the Wildcats beat the Edmonton Thunder 3-2.
