Finals set at 2012-13 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament

The finalists have now been determined at the 2012-13 Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament at the Scotiabank Saddledome on New Year's Day.

According to www.macstournament.ab.ca, the Vancouver NW Giants will play the Carolina Junior Hurricanes in tonight's male final at 6:00 p.m.

This Canada-United States battle will take place because the Giants defeated Pirati Chomutov 4-2 last night in one semi-final. Jackson Cressey led the Giants with two goals and one assist, while Sander Boroczky led the Hurricanes with a goal and two assists.

In the female final, the Edmonton Thunder will play the Saskatoon Stars for the championship game at the Scotiabank Saddledome at 2:00 p.m.

The Thunder defeated the Westman Wildcats 1-0 in a penalty-filled semi-final at the Max Bell Centre on Monday. Elizabeth Salyn scored the lone Thunder goal and Chloe Sanderson made 11 saves for the shutout.

The Stars defeated the Prince Albert A & W Bears 5-2. Hailey Tyndall led the Stars with two goals and one assist.
