Finally! Asomugha released by the Eagles (Photos)

The Philadelphia Eagles have finally made it officially.

The Eagles have officially released defensive back Nnamdi Asomugha from his contract. This move has been talked about in recent days.

Asomugha came to the Eagles two years ago from the Oakland Raiders. But after signing a massive deal with the Birds, he has turned out to be one of the biggest free agent busts in NFL history.

The Eagles were banking on him to be a big part of their defense for years to come. Now, they are banking that they can take advantage of his poor skills moving forward.

He signed a five-year, $60 million dollar deal with the Eagles in the summer of 2011, which made him the highest paid corner back. In his first year after signing his mega deal, his play was mediocre at best.

Then, this past season, he was basically putrid in his play. He was easily beaten in coverage, and came away with just 55 tackles and an interception.

He is 31-years-old, and will be 32-years-old by the time the 2013 season starts. Yet, his recovery speed and confidence is totally gone.

He needs a miracle to happen, like Randy Moss got when he went from the Oakland Raiders to the New England Patriots several years ago. Moss turned his career around in New England, and Asomugha hopes that he can do the same with his new team.

In addition, there are rumors that in Philadelphia, he lost his passion for the game.
