The season finale of Tyler Perry's “The Haves and the Have Nots,” on OWN aired on Tuesday night, and will not return until 2015. There are no Fall episodes scheduled. So viewers will have a lot to think about in the meantime. Several things were left unresolved, and people were left with not one but several cliffhangers.
The Atlanta Blackstar refers to the last episode as "Checkmate." As the episode ends, we see David calling his wife Veronica. She refuses to pick up the telephone. This provokes David to act upon Maggie's wishes for him to come to her adjoining hotel room. He resisted as long as he could, but we see him entering and closing the door behind him.
Speaking of telephone calls, Judge Jim Cryer gets a telephone call after he is in bed with Katheryn. He goes outside and is kidnapped by a group of men and put in the trunk of car. We are left wondering if Candace is carrying out her threat to hire someone to get Jim, or if it is Quincy's guys since Quincy and Jim fight before Quincy storms out of Katheryn's dinner party.
While the family is in bed except the kidnapped father, the unstable daughter Amanda’s walks from room to room and holds a gun to her mother and to her brother's head. We hear a gunshot and then the credits start rolling. Let's think about this for a moment. When the gun goes off, Amanda is in neither room. She has alternately run from Katheryn's room and Wyatt's room a couple of times. When the gun goes off, she is in the hallway which leads this writer to believe she shot herself and not one of her family members.
“The Haves and the Have Nots” has hit a network high for OWN. Variety has recognized the night time soap opera as OWN's most popular series to date. New episodes of the series will return on Jan. 6, 2015.
