Final teams set for the 2014 Little League World Series of Baseball

Sunday, the final teams played to round out the final schedule for the 2014 Little League World Series (LLWS). Saturday, four games were played to determine which US teams would go to the 2014 LLWS; the world series games begin Thursday, August 14. Sunday, the Canada slot was filled when the Vancouver, British Columbia team defeated Ontario 4-1. Sunday night, the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania team defeated the Newark, Delawareare little league team 8-0 for the final mid-atlantic slot; the game was played live on ESPN.

This is the 68th annual Little League Baseball World Series and each year the LLWS games are played in South Williamsport, Pa. The annual LLWS event brings tens of thousands of families, fans, and players from around the world to watch 10 day of games. The final LLWS championship game will be played Sunday, August 24.

Each year, the LLWS starts with sixteen teams which include: eight United States (US) and eight international teams. It’s double elimination and each team gets to play three games at the LLWS with the final consolation game. The final championship game will consist of one US team and one International team.

Midwest - Canyon Lake LL - Rapid City, South Dakota

Northwest - Lynnwood Pacific LL - Lynnwood, Washington

Southeast - South Nashville LL - Nashville, Tennessee

Southwest - Pearland East LL - Pearland, Texas

West - Mountain Ridge LL - Las Vegas, Nevada

Asia-Pacific - Seoul LL - Seoul, South Korea

Australia - Perth Metro North LL - Perth, Australia

Canada - South Vancouver LL - Vancouver, British Columbia

Caribbean - Miguel Luzunaris LL - Humacao, Puerto Rico

Europe-Africa - South Moravia LL - Brno, Czech Republic

Japan - Tokyo Kitasuna LL - Tokyo, Japan

Latin America - Coquivacoa LL - Maracaibo, Venezuela

Mexico - Guadalupe Linda Vista LL - Guadalupe, Nuevo León

The LLWS games can be dramatic, heart breaking, and an absolute joy for the teams that win. Making it to Williamsport is a hard earned dream for most of the 11 – 12 year olds (and 13-year-olds whose birthday is after May 1, 2014).

Even when a team loses at the LLWS games, they are able to return to their suite-like surroundings at The Grove and they get to live like rock stars for about ten days. Amenities include: a large swimming pool, video games, a room full of ping pong tables, and new friends who have come from all over the world. No parents are allowed!
