According to Tuesday's 9 News, the final German shepherd who was stolen from a private kennel in Douglas County, Colo., earlier this month, has been found.

Duke, the last of the three missing German shepherds, was found in Palmer Lake on Tuesday morning inside of an abandoned house; a tip led the authorities to the house to investigate. A spokesperson for the local sheriff's department stated that although he was a bit thin, Duke appeared to be on relatively good health.

Duke has already been returned to the private kennel from which he was stolen - dogs at the facility are bred and trained for military and police work.

Last Thursday, another German shepherd who was stolen from the kennel was found tied to a fence not far from where he was taken - the dog, named "Alonso," was dehydrated and had lost over twenty pounds. Prior to that, one of the stolen German shepherds was discovered inside of a Palmer Lake resident's garage.

The Sheriff's Office credits tips from area residents for the successful return of all three dogs.
