Just under a month after Oscar nominations were announced on January 10th, the Academy opened the polls for final voting on Friday morning according to Variety.
2013 marks the beginning of a new era. Academy members have to be thrilled at the fact that they can finally cast their votes after watching organizations dictate who will take home the gold.
The star-studded line-up for the show consists of the likes of Charlize Theron, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. “The Avengers” cast members will also be on hand in the form of Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo which should be an extra treat for fans.
So, who will win? “Argo” may be a pretty safe bet for Best Picture but you can be sure that Ben Affleck isn’t exactly holding his breath. The flick grabbed the Directors Guild, Producers Guild as well as the Screen Actors Guild so it’s a shoe-in right?
Since the voting ends on February 19th, the voters certainly have enough time to give a responsible effort and actually watch each contending film which could pay off for movies like “Silver Linings Playbook.” Who wouldn't welcome another acceptance speech from Jennifer Lawrence?
Are viewers going to tune in to the Oscars to see who wins or to see just how entertaining Seth McFarlane can be in the flesh? All bets are on the latter of the two. The odds are with Seth that he will deliver and you can bet the Academy is counting on that.
