The new president and chief executive officer at Square Enix has provided some commentary about the type of video games his company will be releasing in the future. According to a report from Dual Shockers on Dec. 22, Yosuke Matsuda promised fans that more “memorable games” will be coming out.
He went on to explain that Square Enix is known for pioneering new styles. “Deus Ex: Human Revolution,” “Dragon Quest,” “Final Fantasy,” “Space Invaders” and “Tomb Raiders” were used as examples. You can find a few screens featuring “Final Fantasy XV” in the slideshow to the left of this article and his comments below:
I think Square Enix is known for releasing “memorable games.” We established our style in RPGs with Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. The Taito group has developed the original arcade game Space Invaders. Our Eidos group, that is also behind the original Tomb Raider action adventure, has been a pioneer in a new style combining RPG and FPS with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Yosuke Matsuda also stated that Square Enix always built a new style of game for every era, adding that he wants to create more products like “Dragon Quest” and “Final Fantasy.” You can view his statement below:
I think in this way the Square Enix group has built, regardless of platform, a style of game for each era. Since the appearance of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy many RPGs have been released. I want to create many more games like that.
“Final Fantasy XV” appears to be one of the “memorable games” that the president of Square Enix may be referring to. The upcoming title is a radical departure from the rest of the series due to its real-time combat and fast-paced action. The video game is being developed by the Square Enix 1st Production Department with Tetsuya Nomura acting as the main director.
Yosuke Matsuda and the other staff members from the company have not yet disclosed a release date for “Final Fantasy XV” on the PS4 and Xbox One.
