The publisher of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” has provided some details in regards to transferring characters from the PS3 version of the massively-multiplayer online role-playing game to the PS4. According to a report from Aus Gamers on Feb. 13, the service is expected to launch on April 11.
Although players don’t have to pay an additional fee for the PS4 iteration during the transfer, the PS3 version of “Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” will be rendered unplayable as a result. The transfer service is scheduled to begin Friday, April 11th, 2014. Please be aware that after transferring to the PS4 you’ll be unable to play the PS3 version using your existing copy. Users who wish to play using both the PS3 and PS4 are required to purchase the PS4 version separately.
Square Enix also confirmed that multiple accounts on the PS3 could be moved to the PS4. Users who go through the transfer process are also eligible for the “early access period.” You can find the rest of the details below:
Users who own multiple service accounts for the PS3 can transfer all accounts to the PS4. Users transferring their accounts will have access during the early access period, scheduled from April 11th to the 13th. Please note: to transfer your PS3 account, you must have logged into it from a PS3 at least once.
“Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn” will officially launch on April 14 in the North American region. Square Enix is planning two beta tests before the release of the final product. The first takes place between Feb. 22 and March 3. The second play test should start on April 4 and end on April 7.
The massively-multiplayer online role-playing game was released for the PC and PS3 platforms last year on Aug. 27.
