'Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn' beta start date announced

For those of you following the rebirth of "Final Fantasy XIV" the announcement you have been waiting for has finally come. Earlier today Square Enix announced the start of the "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" beta on the game's lodestone website, and tentatively pegged it to begin on Feb. 25 barring any unforeseen bugs.

This date is a bit later than fans expected, but Square Enix says the extra time has given them the chance to further polish the phase 1 beta build players will get to experience when it goes live. It has been a long time coming for Square Enix, who undertook an unprecedented revamp of a blockbuster MMORPG, and soon players will be able to see if all this work they have been doing has resulted in a better experience.

As Square Enix also mentioned, they are still recruiting beta testers, so if you have not applied to beta test and would like to you should go do so now. Any legacy players have automatic access, so there is no need for them to apply.

Beta tester acceptance emails should be going out soon, so keep an eye on your inbox and good luck!

Are you looking forward to the start of the "Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn" beta?
