The newest iteration of Final Fantasy was released in Japan on the PS3 yesterday. According to an official release by Square Enix, over 1 million copies were sold in the first 24 hours. Having shipped out about 2 million total copies to retailers, it's not a bad haul having moved half of that on the first day.
As for the rest of us, we will have to wait a few months. The NTSC and PAL editions for Final Fantasy XIII will be released on March 9, 2010. However, it will be worth the wait as it's not only being released on the PS3, but the Xbox 360 as well. The 360 version will be bundled as a multi-disc set and the PS3 version will be on a single standard Bluray disc.
