Now, the eternal waiting game begins again...
The pre-order business is always amusing. Even before the game publishers have released final pricing and release dates, retailers both offline and online are more than happy to take your money anyway.
Cue the videogame retail giant that is Gamestop, now taking pre-orders at an expected price of $59.99 for both PS3 and 360 versions. What's surprising (aside from their Rubber Ducky Wii bundle) is the decidedly unexpected humor present in their disclaimer:

Gamestop estimates Final Fantasy XIII's release date as June 21, 2010, and in my experience their estimations are usually more accurate than others.
Amazon.com is also taking pre-orders, although their estimated release date is December 21, 2010.

You're just a bit late...
Gamestop has had preorders for the game up online for...about 6 or so months now, if not longer. The new date and in-store preorders have been up since E3.
@Kanetsuga: Thanks for clarifying, I wasn't aware of that. (and judging by comments at N4G & Facebook neither were tons of other people.)
I hadn't seen the humorous roman numeral reference before, not online pre-orders at Amazon, so we can still consider it news :-)
