Recently, Shonen Jump revealed that the PS3 version of the highly anticipated HD re-release of Final Fantasy X will include Final Fantasy X-2 on the same disc. The sequelwill be released separately on the PS Vita. As this is the first time X-2 has been mentioned in regards to this HD remaster, not much is known about its own HD treatment, or if it will be included in the North American retail release.
It has also been confirmed that this release will feature the ‘international’ version of Final Fantasy X, which included bonuses such as the Dark Aeons and a prologue to X-2.Neither the price point nor release window have been revealed, and character models were only recently shown at a Japanese Vita event, which served as the first bit of solid information regarding Final Fantasy X HD since its announcement at 2011’s Tokyo Game Show.
Other details, such as the extensiveness of these games’ HD treatment, have also been left vague. Given the amount of time Square has been working on this project, it is possible that the original visuals are seeing a complete overhaul. This would include new character models, redone textures, and re-rendered cinematics.
Regardless, Square Enix is aiming for a 2013 release date, though whether they will push the game out worldwide during that time frame is still unknown.
