‘Final Fantasy Versus XIII’ publisher registers trademark for new game (Photos)

According to a report by Siliconera on Jan. 17, the Japanese branch of Square Enix, the publisher behind the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive title, “Final Fantasy Versus XIII,” has registered a trademark for a new video game. A trademark for “Guns & Souls” was filed on Jan. 16 by Kabushiki Kaisha from Square Enix. The name suggests that it could be a first or third-person shooting video game. The application is currently under examination.

In addition to “Guns & Souls,” Square Enix is also currently working on “Final Fantasy Versus XIII.” The action role-playing title, which was first announced in 2006 along with “Final Fantasy XIII” and “Final Fantasy Type-0” as a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis mythology series, currently does not have a release date.
