The final late season migratory bird hunting season rules for 2013-14 have been issued. The Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) announced the specific dates, possession and bag limits for certain birds. The announcement, with all the specifics, comes in the Federal Register of Monday, Sept. 23. The provisions take effect immediately.
You can see the specifics at http://www.gpo.gov/fdsys/pkg/FR-2013-09-23/html/2013-22862.htm.
The announcement follows several related ones FWS issued last week. For details, see the stories linked to below.
The announcement also includes early season dates for states that deferred selection. FWS says this is its final word on the process. It has been working on setting dates and limits since spring.
The rules cover all four flyways and every flying creature from white-fronted geese and brant to ducks, mergansers, coots and Canada geese. Rules cover each state separately. Some seasons are already closed and some only allow hunting for certain birds certain days of the week.
