After what can only be called an instant classic between Florida State and Auburn in the last-ever BCS Championship Game, the final AP poll was released on Jan. 7, 2014. As expected, Florida State received all 60 of the first-place votes and landed on top while Auburn came in second, as expected. Coming in third were the Michigan State Spartans who finished the year really strong.
Monday night's 34-31 victory by the Seminoles over the Tigers officially marked the end of the BCS era as next year will bring about a college football playoff system.
With an incredible ending came the final AP poll, and there were a few surprises to say the least.
Florida State officially captured its third AP national title and that ties them with Florida and Texas for the ninth-most of all time.
The University of Central Florida had an incredible season including winning the American Athletic Conference, knocking off Louisville back in October, and defeating Baylor in the Fiesta Bowl. Strangely, they just barely broke the top 10 in the final AP poll.
It is what it is though, and it's set in stone now.
