Filthy Wilma, Zeta June, and Bob Pace top Black Friday concert list

After all your shopping is done, finish off Black Friday with a concert. Here are a few of the top choices.

The Gas Lamp in Des Moines will host a doubleheader of shows on Black Friday. Iowa blues rock legend Bob Pace and The Dangerous Band will start things off at 4:30 p.m. with Gas Lamp's patented Work Release Party. There will be a $5 cover at the door and free food while it lasts. Hellbilly punk rock act Joe Buck Yourself will headline the late show with rock/swing/blues act Viva Le Vox opening the show at 9 p.m. There will be a $7 cover charge at the door, and you must be 21 or older to attend.

Baxter, Iowa native and current Minneapolis resident Izzy Dunfore will play First Avenue Speakeasy in Newton on Friday night. The rapper's 5th album, Ugly, came out in July, and Dunfore has been touring ever since, including a recent stint on tour with Skee Lo. The show starts at 9 p.m. and has no cover charge.

Vaudeville Mews in Des Moines will also host a doubleheader on Friday. The early show will feature an acoustic performance by folk rock artist Zane Nichols, as well as performances by Alex Mortenson, Cort Brown, and Benn Isacksen. The all ages show starts at 5:30 p.m., and there will be a $5 cover at the door. Iowa City psychedelic rock jam band Zeta June will headline the late show on Friday that will also see Des Moines funk/rock/soul band GoodcaT and Ames cover band Fuzzy Logic take the stage. The late show will kick off at 10 p.m., and there will be a $5 cover at the door. It is a 21-and-over show.

Alabama rockers Filthy Wilma will play a reunion show at Wooly's in Des Moines on Friday. The band last played a show together on October 27 of last year, but they are now back together again and beginning a new tour. The music will start at 8 p.m., and the all ages event is only $10. Tickets may be purchased in advance through Ticketfly or at the door.

Fahrenheit begins a two-night engagement in the lounge at Meskwaki Casino (west of Tama/Toledo) on Friday. The Des Moines-based classic rock and country cover band will play free shows from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. You must be 21 or older to attend.

Des Moines cover band Flipside will begin a two-night engagement at Prairie Meadows in Altoona, as well. The band will play an 8 p.m. show on Friday and a 10 p.m. show on Saturday. Both free shows will be in the Finish Line Show Lounge. You must be 21 or older to attend.
