Films that Feed, a socially conscious international film festival in Las Vegas, celebrated its first annual offering last Dec. 2, to 11, 2011 at Theatre7.
Festival Admission/Outreach Program
Keeping up with its theme and mission and vision, the festival warmed up in bringing goodness to the holiday season through its admission requirement for the general audience. Instead of selling tickets, the price for admission for each screening was two canned good items or any new unwrapped toy. The goods provided to the festival went directly to Three Square Food Bank to help feed the needy and to Toys for Tots to distribute toys as Christmas gifts for underprivileged children.
The festival raised about 230 pounds of food and 137 toys for the outreach program.
The festival had spotlights on movies with socially conscious themes. Some of these were films the feature and short documentaries "More to Live for," "Without a Home," "Dad's Vietnam: The War Experience of Greg Schwarze," and "Our World War II Fathers."
