On Oct. 27, 2013, filmmakers Joe Falcione and Israel David Groveman announced the beginning of a Kickstarter pledge event for the film project "Despondent." The funding period will run for 33 days from Oct. 27, 2013 - Nov. 29, 2013.
These two filmmakers, Falcione with Reliant Films LLC in Maryland and Groveman with IDG Visual in Hollywood, Calif., are using Kickstarter to help showcase their first short film. The film premiere will be at the historic Uptown Theater in downtown Washington, DC.
Groveman shared about being an artist and about "Despondent."
"Everyone has a little place in their heart for passionate artists who do not let the excuse of a tiny budget stifle their creativity.
'Despondent' is an intense, artistic 36 minute short film about a killer that critics have called an arthouse action film with noir style."
Examiner.com was told that the film project was shot in two locations.
"We shot in the DC area as well as in Badlands, South Dakota. See the film's trailer."
The mens' goal is to premiere their short film at the Uptown Theater in DC.
"This is one of DC's last truly historic and gigantic movie theaters. The film was shot in and around Washington DC, primarily, and though I recently moved to Los Angeles, both Falcione and myself grew up in the DC area and have a deep knowledge of and love for the city and its surroundings." - Israel David Groveman
According to Groveman, DC has more recently developed in its appreciation of the arts. He and Falcione both want to see the arts, especially filmmaking, grow by leaps and bounds!
"We also believe in supporting older theaters like this that, frankly, have increasing challenges staying afloat in today's media saturated world." - Israel David Groveman
Once they have secured the amount of money needed to cover the costs of the event and host it at the theater, all contributors will be alerted to the date of the showing. In addition, the men thanked Examiner.com and future supporters.
"Most likely the event will take place on a Wednesday evening, sometime after 8 p.m. The exact date will be announced.
"Thank you, if you can make a contribution, and thanks for your support. We hope to see everyone at the premiere!" - Falcione and Groveman
