Abortion is one of the most controversial issues of our era. Although Roe v Wade was suppose to have given women the right to decide for themselves whether abortion was right, the issue has created divided camps. There is the camp vehemently opposed to abortion who argue against this right on religious grounds; there is the camp that feels as strongly that it is something a woman should be able to decide herself. Politicians bolstered by the religious right have made attempts to overturn this court decision, in some instances passing ordinances within a locale that make the cost of operating clinics so prohibitively high that they are forced to close their doors, while the other camp bitterly argues that these politicians should not be allowed to make this private decision at all. They object to this political overreach But seldom has the matter of how women who choose to have an abortion, regardless of the situation surrounding this decision are affected afterward. That is until now.
Deciding to accept the challenge of raising this issue through the platform of visual entertainment, a medium that the cast and crew of Pontiac, Michigan based production company "It's a RAP Production", lead by actor, writer, and director Roshaun Akeem Page, feels strongly would enable them to reach out to a wider audience, an attempt is being made through the creation of a feature narrative that examines the experiences of a woman who decides to have an abortion
Aftereffect deals with the before and aftereffect of making this life altering decision. According to the storyline: All is well in the life of Shina Wright, a new house, a new job, and a man that loves her. That is until she makes a heart wrenching choice that shatters her life altering her reality.
To make this feature a reality, this crew must raise the sum of $20,000. This they are doing through a Indiegogo campaign. This campaign will close in a relative few hours. This cast has less than two days from today, August 24, 2013 to raise this sum. If unsuccessful, they will start anew. They are determined. But they need your help.
This sum of $20,000 is what is needed to get the ball rolling covering some of the cost of pre-production and production. This amount includes equipment rentals, locations, music, insurance, and attaching name talent.
According to Page, "We understand that not everyone can donate, but there is something you can do. Help us raise awareness, get the word out and make some noise about our project."
With Page's creative writing and direction, an extremely talented cast, and a production crew with over 50 years of combined experience, this film with its message will compete and be awarded in film festivals domestically and internationally, ultimately landing worldwide distribution.
