Anime fans rejoice! Omaha's Film Streams theater announced today that it is set to screen four award winning animes directed by Hayao Miyazaki. The local theater will show “Castle in the Sky,” “Spirited Away,” “My Neighbor Totoro,” and “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.” Tickets for kids 12 and under will only cost $2.50. Admission for adults costs $9, $7 for students, and only $4.50 for Film Streams members.

Show times for “Castle in the Sky” begin on the 19th of Jan. and end on the 31st. The story follows a young boy, Pazu, and young girl, Sheeta, who wears a mysterious amulet. Together, they search for Laputa, the last surviving flying city, while fighting off pirates and soldiers. Film Streams recommends this film for ages 9 and up. “Spirited Away” will be shown from Feb. 23rd until March 7th. The Oscar-winning coming of age story centers on a young girl named Chihiro. When her parents are put under a spell, she is forced to fend for herself in a world full of spirits and magic in order to rescue them. Film Streams recommends this film for ages 11 and up. “My Neighbor Totoro” will visit Film Streams between March 9th and 21st. The film focuses on two young girls who move with their father to a new house in the country to be closer to their ailing mother in the hospital. The girls encounter friendly forest spirits who watch over them until their mother returns home. Film Streams recommends this film for ages 5 and up. Show times are available on the website.

Lastly, “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” will be shown from March 23rd until April 4th. In a post-war landscape, humanity lives only in the small spaces on the planet where a vast toxic jungle has taken root. One peaceful princess, Nausicaä, manages to befriend the giant insect inhabitants of the forest. When another kingdom intends to employ an ancient weapon to destroy the forest creatures, Nausicaä must try to keep the peace. Film Streams recommends this film for ages 10 and up.
