Film stars and musicians turn out big at Global Green 10th Annual Pre-Oscar bash (Photos)

Hollywood’s elite activists and green-minded glitterati came out on Wednesday night to celebrate in honor of Global Green USA’s 10th Annual Pre-Oscar’s bash. The Avalon Hollywood, more known as a rock n’roll nightclub, turned beacon for electronic music - was transformed into a botanical garden, complete with "eco-dressed" dinner tables. Proceeds from the evening benefitted Global Green’s work to build greener, more resilient homes, schools and communities in areas devastated by Hurricane Sandy.

The evening started with a VIP-reception, with celebrity arrivals and DJ Shy spinning in the “Volt Lounge.” Bold-faced names who stepped out on the green carpet included, Helen Hunt, who looked stunning in an emerald lace dress, as well as Orlando Bloom, Miranda Kerr, Emmy Rossum, Ed O'Neill, Dylan McDermott, Sophia Bush, Josh Radnor and Catt Sadler, among others.

The highlight of the evening was a special performance by seven-time Grammy Award winner, Willie Nelson with his two sons, Lukas and Micah Wilson. “Willie Nelson is a resolute activist for the cause, and we could not be more thrilled to have him on board for this year’s Pre-Oscar party” said Matt Peterson, Global Green USA CEO. Nelson’s ranch in Austin is solar-powered, and he also produces his own blend of biodiesel fuel.

The performance was unbelievably long, almost two-hours, as Willie and his sons played many of the classic 80’s hits, while unveiling new tracks. Both of his sons, Lukas and Micah, reside in Venice, California. KCRW’s Garth Trinidad also performed, as well as Warner Bros. recording artist, Sussan Deyhim.

H&M brought out their global initiative to recycle used clothing, focusing on fashion and sustainability. Ladies, gents and kiddos, bring your unwanted clothing to any H&M store and for each bag of clothing you donate; you will receive a voucher with a discount for your next purchase. Each year, tons of textiles end up in landfills and as much as 95% can be recycled. So cool.

This year’s featured auto sponsor was the Chevy Volt, which chauffeured many attendees to the event and was showcased at Avalon. Other sponsors included, Coolhaus, Cade Estate Winery, Patron, Ehlers Estate, 360 Vodka and Pureology, who hosted a “hair station.” Landscape designer Durie Design and floral designer Celadon & Celery were the ingenuity behind the décor.

These days in Hollywood, one weekend is just not enough. This explains why the parties start earlier and earlier each year. For all of the charities, gifting lounges, brands and other venues that are competing to host, the earlier the better. On the same night, another big fundraiser was being held at the Ace Museum for the Art of Elysium. No rest for the weary and can’t wait to see what other Oscar parties unveil.
