Actor Billy Dee Williams withdraws from 'DWTS'

Legendary leading man Billy Dee Williams was forced to put up his dancing shoes on Monday night’s episode of “Dancing With the Stars”. The actor revealed last night he would have to withdraw from the show due a medical issue with his back. He praised his partner Emma Slater and thanked the show and the audience for their support.

“I’ve had a wonderful, brilliant, fantastic, blast of a time and working with this wonderful, beautiful, young woman.”

Williams who’s known for his iconic film roles in such movies as “Mahogany”, “Lady Sings the Blues”, “Brian’s Song” and “Star Wars: Episode V-The Empire Strikes Back” had survived last week’s double elemination and made it to the second round of the dancing competition. At 76 he was the oldest contestant on season 18 of ABC's Dancing With the Stars which kicked off two weeks ago on March 17.

Currently Williams’ voice can be heard in the animated hit “The Lego Movie” which premiered in theaters nationwide back in February. According to his IMDB page he stars next in the mystery “The Man in 3B” with Lamman Rucker, Brely Evans, D.B. Woodside and Christian Keyes.
