Film Review: Movie 43

Movie 43 is a collection of short, raunchy sketches filled with big named actors and minimal entertainment. The film's trailer makes it look hilarious but every sketch falls flat. Although some sketches are more watchable than others, it is hard to say that one was funnier or better than any of the others. Every short tries to push the envelope and be offensive, but just because something is vulgar does not neccesarily mean it is humorous.

The film has a star-studded cast. It has both lesser-known actors that appeal to the younger, nerdier audiences like Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World) and Christopher Mitz-Plasse (Superbad's McLovin'), as well as Academy Award winners like Kate Winslet and Halle Berry. The long list of famous faces is the sole reason to watch the film, but might make you respect your favorites less. It is confusing why award winning actors and actresses would agree to be in this mediocre nonsense.

Movie 43 is disappointing. You go in expecting some wonderful SNL-like sketch comedy, but the only time you will laugh is when you nervously chuckle at how offensive the material is -- if you laugh at all. Do not waste your money on this. It is not even worth the Early Bird pricing. It is that terrible.
