On Jan. 9, 2014, the United Film & Television Artists (UFTA) announced a change in where they will be meeting. UFTA will meet in a private room at Perkins off Crystal Drive and U.S. 41 in Fort Myers, Fla. (See map below.)

"For different reasons we will not be meeting at the Alliance for the Arts. Perkins has been 'good' to us before, and it will be easier for those who want to eat something to do that, as well, before our meeting begins." - UFTA President Al Quinn

The main agenda for UFTA's new year will be to discuss the production of their film, "Casting."

"We have been preparing to shoot our short film, 'Casting,' since last year. It remains in the pre-production stage, however that will soon change."

According to Quinn and other UFTA members the idea to create such a film has been in the works for years, but the actual preparing for it was during all of 2013.

Some of the preparations included the creation of the script, choosing of the cast and crew, plus other behind the scenes scenarios. At this point, they are closer to actually shooting the film!

"Our director of photography (DP) Ernesto Lasso de la Vega has been checking out locations to shoot our film.

Lasso de la Vega has scouted out a possible location to use in Naples, and he continues to check another out this coming weekend here in Fort Myers."

More than the film will be discussed at UFTA's next meeting says Quinn.

"Myself, along with all of UFTA, look forward to the new year, and in addition to discussing the film we will also discuss other new year plans."
