The 2014 LA Film Festival runs June 11 thru June 19. To celebrate the announcement of the full festival line-up on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, Film Independent is presenting a pre-festival screening of Clueless in Nokia Plaza at L.A. Live at 7 p.m. that night. Bring your posse. It's free!
"Okay, so you're probably going, 'Is this like a Noxzema commercial or what?'" as Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone wonders in the film. As if! "Hey," Paul Rudd as Josh explains, "In some parts of the universe, maybe not in Contempo Casual, but in some parts, it's considered cool to know what's going on in the world." Whatever.
Director Amy Heckerling will introduce her irreverent and endlessly quoted 1995 Valley Girl comedy at the event, along with the star, Alicia Silverstone. Stacey Dash, who co-starred as Cher's BFF, Dionne - "Dionne and I were both named after famous singers of the past, who now do infomercials." - will join them. So will Elisa Donovan, who played a spoiled brat Cher dubbed a "full-on Monet" - "It's like a painting, see? From far away, it's okay, but up close, it's a big old mess." Donald Faison - whose character Murray called one guy "a disco-dancing, Oscar Wilde-reading, Streisand ticket-holding friend of Dorothy, know what I'm saying?' - will be there in person, too.
Even if you've "been shopping with Dr. Seuss," bring a sweater. It's outside.
"So you don't want to make a night of it with the Ring a Ding Kid?"
