As a screenwriter, it is frustrating trying to get your script into the hands of someone who can really help with your production. Finding an investor who believes in what you are doing, who catches the vision of your script -- is not an easy task. Many a screenwriter has come to Hollywood with great aspirations, and years later still has not achieved their ultimate goal.
Well, while looking on the web for new and exciting options for writers, I came across this fantastic program through GreenlightCrowdfunding.com. It’s called Film Co-op!
Film Co-op is a most unique way to support the creative efforts of talented writers and film producers. And, it's not just for those living near Los Angeles, as a web-based platform writers across the nation can take advantage of this incredible opportunity.
GreenlightCrowdfunding's Film Co-op opens the door for moviemakers to be able to produce their screenplays and get their productions distributed – with no out-of-pocket money at all.
The idea is simple. Six short screenplays are selected, either various genres or all the same. A campaign is set up for the six scripts, and they are marketed together to take advantage of a wider support base online through social media and other channels.
The typical budget is $60,000, and when reached will be divided between the six projects evenly ($10,000 each) which may be enough to produce the film, but typically will be used for Development funds. In the event that additional money is needed for a particular project, a second Individual Campaign (not co-oped) will be set up to continue crowdfunding for the rest of the budget requirements.
Check out these new films that will soon be available for our entertainment through this amazing Film Co-op program:
A Day at the Office, Rom/Com -- script by Mary Krell-Oishi
Yes, Suspense/Thriller -- script by Kenneth Andrew Williams
Through the Eyes of Blind, Drama -- script by Bradford R. Youngs & Allison McWood
A Question of Faith, SiFi/Fantasy Faith-based -- script by Marc Cellar
Dark Cloud, Drama -- script by Vincent Spano
Apache Orphan Child, Historical Drama -- script by Jane L. Fitzpatrick/story by Priscilla Wolf & Steve Alexander
There are also exciting opportunities for the backers of these projects. Be an extra, have a speaking part, be listed as an executive producer. By giving just a small contribution to support the efforts of a creative artist, you could also fulfill your own dream by being part of a production.
Other GreenlightCrowdfunding.com programs include Book to Film, where your book can be turned into a screenplay. Then, a campaign will be created to get the script produced. Other services include script analysis, budget creation, business plan development, etc.
If you have aspirations to produce your script, or know someone who does, try this fantastic opportunity that can help you reach your dream!
