Filament Theatre opens season with 'The Snow Queen'

Filament Theatre for the last seven years has made Portage Park its home, it has become a anchor business in the productive Six Corners Business District. Over three years ago they signed a lease for the storefront at 4041 N. Milwaukee; with the encouragement and help of Ald. John Arena and Arts Alive 45, with the vision of becoming a factor with the neighborhoods theatre and art audience; as well as the global theatre industry.

For the last few months the Filament Theatre has been working on putting together a diverse, multi-talented ensemble of performers and are now preparing to open their first full production in their new space. The winter 2014 season will open on January 17, 2014 – February 9, 2014, with “The Snow Queen;” an old Hans Christian Anderson fairy tale that has been adapted by Tyler J. Monroe and directed by Allegra Libonati. “The Snow Queen” is a charming story of courage and the power of real friendship as Gerda embarks on a journey across the North Pole to save her friend Kai from the wicked Snow Queen.
