On Thursday evening, Marc Jacobs presented his highly anticipated Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 collection. Last season Miley Cyrus attended the show and this season was equally as star studded. Winona Ryder, Hailee Steinfeld, actress Michele Hicks, Christina Ricci, actress Michelle Dockery, actress Deborah Ann Woll, Miss J. Alexander, Parker Posey, Atlanta de Cadenet, Rachel Zoe, Carmelo Anthony, Drew Barrymore, actress Julianne Hough, Brad Goreski, Terry Richardson, director Sofia Coppola, Hamish Bowles, Brian Wolk and Claude Morais, Grace Coddington, Steven Kolb, Anna Wintour, and actress Karen Elson were a few of the notables in the front row. Fiji Water partnered up with Jacobs for both of his presentations and were a refreshing presence for guests to quench their thirst. The after-party continued into the early hours of Friday morning at the Gramercy Park Hotel.
On September 10, Marc Jacobs presented his Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 presentation at Pier 57. Shoes and accessories were provided by Marc Jacobs and Guido curated the hair for Redken. Dick Page for Shisiedo used a midnight blue eye shadow on the models and Elisa Ferri designed the nails for Marc Jacobs Beauty. As we walked in we caught a glimpse of the water. The warehouse at the pier served as this collection's runway. Before the show we headed backstage to visit our friends at the Fiji Water station. They were one of the sponsors for the show.
The runway consisted of four aisles so all guests could see the collection. In the front row we spotted Dominic Lord, Anna Dello Russo, Sonja Morgan, Iggy Azalea, Kate Lanphear, BryanBoy, Lynn Yaeger, Scott Schuman and Garance Dore, Suzy Menkes, Cameron Silver, Marvin Scott Jarrett, Yang Mi, Shu Pei and Jike Junyi. Model Shu Pei has had a very busy fashion week. She told us she walked the runway for Vera Wang and Joseph Altuzarra. She admires Marc because "he’s always happy. It’s what I love."
Next, the presentation began. Jeffrey Lewis' new track "WWPRD," blared over the speakers as models swiftly glided across the runway. The shimmery gray backdrop served as a perfect contrast to Marc's collection, which consisted of 48 pieces. The collection was inspired by menswear and the cuts were loose and flowy, but chic. Color highlights included pale pink and powder blue pastels and black and white. The satin really popped and there was no shortage of fabulous jumpsuits and tuxedo suits. We loved the blue sequined pieces and the star patches added a nice touch.
