Update 2/19/14 from a shelter volunteer:

It appears that Figueroa is at the end of his journey He's been here since December 23 -- temp tested and failed because he doesn't interact well with dogs. We know how that story goes, don't we? He's a great boy who always greets you with tons of love! I understand that rescues are full, and that many don't want to take the time to 'rehab' a dog with 'issues'. And it doesn't help when the County expects rescues to jump thru hoops and get a waiver on a dog like this, when clearly, he is not an aggressive dog. If nothing comes thru, tomorrow will be Figueroa's last day on this earth. What a tragedy. I know that many volunteers who have come to love him, will feel as though they've lost a friend.

Figueroa arrived to the Los Angeles County Animal Care and Control in Baldwin Park, Calif., two days before Christmas.

Though the two-year-old dog came in as a "stray," he does have an owner.

Figueroa is neutered and has been at this facility before - just this past November in fact.

During the young dog's last stay at the facility, he was there for 11 days before he was reclaimed...this time, Figueroa waits, but nobody appears to be coming.

Now, the time has run out for this one-time companion. The healthy, young, altered dog who aced his temperament tests for humans has unfortunately been deemed "rescue only" because he reacted to other dogs when he was leashed.

Notes on Figueroa's Facebook thread indicate that Wednesday is his last day...

Please take a moment to network Figueroa - time is not on his side.
