Figment of the Imagination, When It Comes To the Sequester

It has now been 2 weeks and the sky has not fallen, there’s no fire and brimstone, and all the calls about horrific delays have simply not materialized. The cuts that have been made public, appear to have been made with the intent to demonstrate the catastrophe, while doing nothing but angering the population further. It would appear that sides have done some wolf crying of their own. Sadly, no one really cares about this. Unless it has some impact on you, you just go about your merry way singing and dancing as you always have. However, more does have to be done about the deficit, the debt and the entitlement programs.

History has been sprinkled with great societies. Most of these great societies no longer exist or have been so greatly diminished that there is no real value to them; simply historical reference. In order to avoid a similar path for our nation, one would seriously need to consider what lead to the decline and fall of these societies. What warning signs were there? Were the citizens aware of the problems? What political philosophy was in play? Were they democracies, monarchs or autocracies?

To begin to understand the future, you must first examine the past. Failures did not suddenly appear. They were simmering to a boiling point and at some point overflowed. We, as a great society, must find a way to turn down the heat to avoid repeating the empirical data that demonstrates that terrible things happen to societies that do not heed the warnings.
