"Fighting For My Daughter" is a fact-based movie based on the true story of Anne Dion and her daughter. The movie, which is also known by the title "Deadly Nightshade, premiered on ABC originally in 1995 starring Lindsay Wagner. Anne Dion's name was changed to Kate Kerner in the film.
"Fighting For My Daughter" is about a mother who has the gut-wrenching task of saving her daughter from the streets. For the first time, Kate thinks that her daughter Jessie just might be acting out because her father does not live in the home. Wanting more material things, Jessie is lured into the world of prostitution, and Kate walks the streets day and night to find her.
The true story happened in Canada in 1992. That's when Anne Dion's daughter was seduced by her pimp to become a prostitute. Anne actually walked the streets looking for her daughter, and in the process, she tried to save other children.
The real mother contacted Dr. Lois Lee, founder of "Children Of The Night," an organization which helps children who have been sexually exploited through sex trafficking and prostitution, according to The Deseret News.
Unfortunately, her daughter was helped physically, but according to Anne, she is still being treated as a criminal, which has heavily impacted her quality of life--even now that she is a woman in her 30's. The incident occurred when she was just 15 years old.
Children of the Night aka COTN is the name of the program that helped Anne's daughter, It is a wonderful program according to law enforcement. They have had many successful stories.
