Fighting for consumers, Sear and Kmart, innovate shop your way program in

Sears and Kmart, which have been known for innovation and convenience to help reestablish various struggling locations within Kmart and Sears locations throughout the country. Sears and Kmart are offering a new service once again to help the establishment gain long-term consumers. Tuesday, July 8, Sears and Kmart, two leading integrated retailers focused on making shopping easier for Shop Your Way members and customers, are introducing a unique online/in-store collaboration to allow pick up of or orders at any of each other's stores, more than 2,000 locations nationwide ready in five minutes or less. Will this type of blended service increase customer retention, and improve customer service to attract new consumers?

Earlier this year reports suggested, in order to maximum the organizations profits within the retail establishments. Sears started a process to sublease space. "We are looking forward to bringing DICK's Sporting Goods to the King of Prussia Mall," said Dan Chadwick, director of Real Estate, DICK's Sporting Goods.

Part of a great shopping experience stems from the integration of e-commerce, logistics and Sear and Kmart retail outlets that have become the new showroom for many retail consumers. Household incomes less than $90,000 per year, 40% say they have show-roomed at least once. However, that percentage climbs to 53% for those with a household income of $90,000 or greater.

"Sears was the first broadline retailer to provide the convenience of free buy online pick up in store more than 12 years ago, and we continue to introduce integrated offerings to help our members shop on their own terms," said Imran Jooma, executive vice president, Sears Holdings. "Leveraging the breadth of both Sears and Kmart's online and in-store networks means more convenience for members and opens an even wider brand-name product selection available to fans of both stores."

With so many retailers in one location and the sublease retail market growing, will you visit each store? Will this really be a convenience to shop or continue to browse through store window or online. “It has been great working closely with Sears Holdings on this outstanding space and this partnership will be a win-win situation for our respective customers. "The service also makes exclusive brands – like Sofia by Sofia Vergara and Adam Levine at Kmart, and Bongo and Outdoor Life at Sears – available for free pickup at hundreds of new locations." This trend demonstrated that retailers need employees who can engage the consumer, as opposed to providing service like the typical ‘ATM machine’.

Although Leena Munjal, senior vice president, is excited about the new service, are consumers ready for the innovation of sublease mega malls within a mall structure?

Retailers must create environments that disarm consumers from the economy’s gloom and doom, not to mention President Obama’s ‘Economic Patriotism' in a way that is ethical; demonstrating corporate social responsibility, which, allows sales associates to thrive. American Companies should reinvest in disruptive innovative services. If celebrities servicing the brand do not support the brands by appearances in various store locations, shopping with consumers unscripted, how can you expect consumers to get excited? Allow consumers to escape reality while shopping, anyone can click, select, repeat and complete online. Jeff Stollenwerck, senior vice president and president, Real Estate for Sears Holdings, said it best, "Sears Holdings has a long and successful history of value creation through the selective and strategic redeployment of our existing real estate base"
