Fighter profile: Anthony Pazmino

One of the fighters who fought in Ultimate Reno Combat 30 was Anthony Pazmino (0-1) from Dan "Bam-Bam" Stell's world famous Bam Bam's Destruction Crew Fight Team.  He fought a great fight against Jose Ayala from the Reno Academy of Combat and was stopped due to injury between the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  Examiner.com took a few minutes to speak with him after his fight.

Examiner.com: How is your arm?

Pazmino:It’s good; it’s starting to feel better.  The doctor said I torqued it a little bit, I’ll be fine.

Examiner.com: How long have you been training in MMA?

Pazmino:About a year and a half.

Examiner.com: What got you started in MMA?

Pazmino:  I was one of those kids that loved to fight so my dad said, “If you’re going to do it, learn how to do it right”, and he got me involved with boxing at 13.  I was injured and had spinal surgery 2 years ago and when I started to recover Dan picked me up and got me into MMA.

Examiner.com: What do you like best about fighting and training?

Pazmino:I like the competition; I learn something new every day.  Every time we train it's something different: hands, feet, grappling, I love every aspect of it.   Dan is a wonderful trainer, he's like a father to me.

Examiner.com: What do you like least about it?

Pazmino:Waiting before a fight, but then you get that adrenaline rush and there’s nothing like it.

Examiner.com: Have you learned anything from fighting that has helped you outside the cage or outside the gym?

Pazmino:I have learned confidence.  I have become much better as a person; you don’t realize it until you go in there.

Examiner.com: Are there any pro-fighter's you'd like to fight someday?

Pazmino:Every one of them in my weight class.  I mean that, I’ll fight anybody.  Like this fight, Jose is a great fighter; my hat is off to him.  I wasn’t supposed to fight him initially, but that fighter backed out and they asked me if I wanted to fight a guy that’s 5-3, so I said, “Yes”, a fight’s a fight, I don’t care about records  I just want to do it!

Examiner.com: Would you do anything different next time out?

Pazmino:  I amfeeling strong at 155 but maybe next time I’ll drop to 145 and be back here in February.

Examiner.com: We look forward to seeing you in the cage again, besides healing that arm and more training what else do you have lined up?

Pazmino:  I’ve got some ideas I’m working on: an apparel company and things like that.

Ultimate Reno Combat 31 will take place at the Grand Sierra Resort and Casino on Friday, February 17, 2012 and Pazmino hopes to make his return to the cage.
