The flu has hit hard this year. In a recent healdline from RTV 6, the death toll now for the state has reached 40 and is still on the rise. Many are trying to find ways to prevent themselves from contracting the flu; washing your hands offten, covering your mouth being a few good prevention techniques. The state has even set a few new regulations in place to keep the flu enfermity from climing more lives. Hooiser themselves though can take even more comfort in knowing that what we eat can also help in the prevention.
According to an interview conducted by About.com with Lisa Hart PhD, RD,director of the Nutrition Education and Prevention Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, the best way to combat the flu, is before you get it. "The key is not waiting until you get sick to make...changes," says Dr. Hart in the interview. So, what foods will help to combat the flu virus before it is contracted? Anything that can boost your imune system, with the emphasis being in foods and not in supplements.The most highly reccomended are oranges.
