FIG enforces no needle policy

With the Olympic Games in London less than a year away, the International Gymnastics Federation is getting tough on needle injections.

In a report from the Associated Press today, the International Gymnastics Federation has banned athletes from injections without medical advice a day before or after competition. The rule will come into effect at World Trampoline Championships next week in Birmingham, England.

Gymnastics has followed cycling that has also produced a no-needle policy.

Canada is one of the strongest trampoline nations in the world. Karen Cockburn of Toronto is a two-time World Champion and three-time Olympic medallist. Rosannagh MacLennan of Toronto just won the Gold medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico. Jason Burnett of Etobicoke, Ontario won the Silver medal in men's trampoline at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
