Producers of “50 Shades of Grey” the movie are defending their pick of two relatively unknown actors to play the leads in the movie. Charlie Hunnam, who rocks as the biker on FX's “Sons of Anarchy” and Dakota Johnson, who was in a short lived series, “Ben and Kate,” came together and magic happened. This is the word coming from the producers of the movie today, according to People Magazine on Sept. 3.
Dana Brunetti, one of the producers from "Fifty Shades of Grey," defended the choices:
"There is a lot that goes into casting that isn't just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc," he wrote on Twitter. "So if your favorite wasn't cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective."
Apparently when Hunnam and Johnson read for the part together, the hunt was over. This couple did something that knocked the socks off of the producers. Michael De Luca, another producer working on this movie said:
"Auditions were stunning, incredible chemistry."
It is the chemistry that would seem to be what was one of the most important parts of bringing this best seller to the screen. Some refer to this book as soft porn, and the fact that it's created around the sexual experiences of the two lead characters, you can't very well have two actors uncomfortable-looking when doing the scenes.
Chemistry would seem to be just about everything, besides the ability of the stars to act. Charlie Hunnam has the acting part down pat and Johnson did really well for the few movie parts she has had so far. This movie has the potential of making Hunnam and Johnson the next Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson of the Hollywood set.
