"Fifty Shades of Grey" is still on the hunt for the perfect CHristian Grey to go opposite the beautiful Dakota Johnson as Ana Steele. While the process is similar to any other film casting, there are factors that muct be considered for this film . According to Fifty Shades Film on Oct 22, film producer Michael De Luca gave a little insight on what is happening behind the red room doors of production. De Luca spoke to E! News at the red carpet for the 2013 Hollywood Film Awards.
"We're looking on your website, we're looking under rocks in Zimbabwe, in space, on the moon. We're looking everywhere, but I think in a couple weeks it will be announced and everything will be cool."
"We're on track. The release date [Aug. 1, 2014] is preserved and we're gonna kind of keep going."
De Luca also went on to discuss Dakota Johnson's role in the casting process. It appears the young actress is helping find an actor that will bring serious chemistry to the big screen. Rumors that the film team wants to replace Johnson appear to be false as De Luca gushed about his actress. "She's just so Anastasia Steele. She's the best partner a producer could have. She's helping us look through the candidates to see which chemistry kind of captures our attention."
So who will Team Fifty find to replace Charlie Hunnam as the mercurial Christian Grey? Front runners include Jamie Dornan and Scott Eastwood, who have both reportedly read for the role. Other candidates include Alexander Skarsgard, Christian Cooke and Billy Magnussen. Fans can rest assured that the film is still on track and De Luca noted the Nov 5 start date would likely be pushed back until Nov 13.
