“Fifty Shades of Grey” movie fans are still reeling from this week’s news hailing from EL James’ Twitter account: Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele have been cast in Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, a big producer choice. The long awaited news was warmly received by some, while other fans seemed disappointed — if not devastated — at the casting news. EL James and Dana Brunetti later took to Twitter to thank her many fans for all of the passion they provide the film project, including the “lovers, haters, and supporters” out there, Just Jared reports this Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Taking the web by storm yesterday, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” announcement spurred hours of online debate over the lead roles, particularly whether Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele were the right looks and chemistry for the parts, whether they had the acting chops, and what to expect now.
Dana Brunetti had discussed in an interview that many fans may not be happy with the final castings for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, as it would be impossible to please everyone. He recently tweeted that a lot goes into finding the lead roles, and that these factors all need to be taken into consideration.
“There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with otheractor , etc,” Brunetti wrote on Twitter. “So if your favorite wasn’t cast, then it is most likely due to something on that list. Keep that in mind while hating and keep perspective.”
EL James, the inner goddess and author of the bestselling kinky series, similarly tweeted a message to her fellow “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans, thanking all of them for their interest in the film, regardless of how they felt about the massive casting news surrounding Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson.
“To all the supporters, lovers and haters – thank you so much for the passion that you have for this project. You all rock. All of you. ♡” she had to say on Christian Grey and Ana Steele’s selection.
