While fan casting for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie continues, Marie Claire reported this Thursday, April 4, that there is only one actor who has continued to not only keep the erotic novel in the spotlight, but voice his own intense interest in starring as Christian Grey in the film adaptation: Ian Somerhalder.
Ian Somerhalder has long been a fan of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” trilogy, and from topping many fan polls to hinting about new film roles in L.A. this 2013, “The Vampire Diaries” actor is certainly a top contender, along other fan favorites Matt Bomer, Henry Cavill, Alexander Skarsgard, and Stephen Amell (who recently confirmed a real “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie meeting with producers).
Somerhalder has continued to tempt fans of late with casting rumors still swirling, recently opening up in an interview about a “moment” he had with a lady in a shop, adding in a word about the casting of Christian Grey has having a lot of people up for it.
Seeing a woman buying “Fifty Shades of Grey” in a store, Somerhalder said he locked eyes with her and had a “moment”, despite her going red for a bit.
“‘You could see her blushing for a second. She saw that I saw the book, and I just smiled at her and said, “It’s a good read, huh?” And she goes, “This so embarrassing.”’
The woman, too, may have seen Ian Somerhalder as her Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, as he added confidently:
“‘Everybody's up for this role,’ he said. ‘But in her mind, just from seeing media, I was that guy.”
