'Fifty Shades of Grey' movie news: Ian Somerhalder in L.A. looking for new film?

The “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie casting rumors are abuzz among fans this week, as fan-favorite Ian Somerhalder recently took to Twitter this Thursday, March 7, to tell his fans that he is heading down to L.A. in search of a new movie. Now while there is no confirmation that “The Vampire Diaries” actor is indeed looking at “Fifty Shades of Grey” as the film in question at this point and time, that hasn’t stopped readers of EL James’ erotic novel trilogy to consider this as a possibility.

With over a thousand re-tweets and counting, Ian Somerhalder posted an exciting and enigmatic message on his Twitter yesterday, once again sparking fan interest in the actor’s upcoming movie roles, including that of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie.

“Wheels down in rainy LA – in search of a movie …”

What’s most notable is that this Christian Grey candidate — listed here are top ten reasons why some fans may want to consider “The Vampire Diaries” actor as their Ana Steele love interest on screen — is that this is the star’s second visit down to LA within several weeks. This has led quite a few fans to wonder if perhaps Ian is in fact in the middle of a screening or audition process — and of course what better one for expectant “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans than auditions of the sexy adaptation?

Now without a director in tow and the script still under wraps, it remains unconfirmed and (unfortunately unlikely, for any Christian Grey candidate) that EL James and the film team are ready for any actor anytime in the very near future. However, with the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie recently affirmed by the Universal Studios director as “a top priority … to have a release date as early as summer 2014”, the time of casting Christian Grey and Ana Steele may not be too far off.

The good news, at least, is with that alleged release date for the film in 2014, fellow fans have only a few months in all likelihood to wait until the casting speculation can at last be put to rest and our official Christian Grey — who will likely be supported by many regardless of who is chosen — is found.

There are of course many talented and possible Christian Grey hopefuls, from Matt Bomer and Alexander Skarsgard to Alex Pettyfer and Henry Cavill — as well as many dark-horse candidates, as EL James has told fans that the casting choices she has in mind “may not be who people expect” — but fan-favorite Ian Somerhalder certainly does remain a top Christian Grey in the eyes of many “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans.
