The wait for the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie to whip its way onto the silver screen is hard to bear, but some interesting tidbits of news surrounding the upcoming adaptation might satiate fans’ appetites for a bit. EnStarz reports this Thursday, September 4, that Jamie Dornan — also known as our Christian Grey in the film — had a special sighting this week with none other than the inner goddess author herself, EL James. Although casting rumors were thought to be all but over with our confirmed characters wrapping up filming, new allegations of Kendall Jenner—sister of celebrity icon Kim Kardashian—making a possible appearance in a “50 Shades” sequel has people talking, too.
It’s almost certain that during their brief conversation this week in London while attending the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards, Jamie Dornan and EL James chatted up some steamy “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie progress. The two celebrities in their own right managed to share a formal greeting at the red carpet event; photos snapped of the duo reveal a smiling EL James introducing her Christian Grey brought to life with the rest of the world.
Yes, fellow readers and fans, you read that correctly. James actually had the opportunity to present the strapping Jamie Dornan with a distinguished award at the well-known event. The upcoming Christian Grey actor was selected as a recipient for the Vertu Breakthrough Award, hinting that “Fifty Shades of Grey” may only be the beginning of a continued successful career for the male lead (in terms of both modeling and acting).
Several other celebrities also walked the red carpet at the GQ Men of the Year Awards festivities, including Rita Ora (who will similarly be starring in the “50 Shades” flick), Jonah Hill, Kanye West, and by his side, wife Kim Kardashian.
The IB Times also offers an enticing slip of news this Thursday; the name Kardashian now has a potential link to the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, and though it remains unconfirmed, it is an interesting rumor from the ever-circulating mill. Apart from the fortunate “50 Shades” project reunion, young Kendall Jenner may be making a sighting of her own in the film sequel of the erotic novel.
While the half-sister of the infamous Kardashian trio might already be highly coveted for her catwalk modeling for various agencies (including Marc Jacobs and Chanel), Kendall could be striding right on forward into a casting role for “Fifty Shades Darker.” Would it be the franchise’s first well-known casting choice? Certainly not. (Singer Rita Ora alone was viewed by some as an unexpected, but welcome, pick.)
This second installment, or sequel, to the original novel begins to explore the complexities of the “contractual” relationship between Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson). Apparently, Kendall could star in “Fifty Shades Darker” because her powerful looks and presence have captured the eye of one Sam Taylor-Wood, the current director of the film.
According to the digital source site and an insider from the Daily Mail:
“She’s fascinated by her and expressed interest in her appearing in the first film, but it didn’t happen … Universal [Pictures] is also keen for Kendall to be involved in the sequel. They put in a call to her people and arranged a meeting last month, which went really well.”
Could you see Jenner in the sequel of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, coming out early next year? It has been suggested that Kendall’s part would be relatively small in the context of the overall film, but it will mark her first big appearance in a major motion picture. The possibility of seeing the Kardashian sibling on the silver screen might also depend upon Sam Taylor-Wood coming back as the adaptation’s returning director. Nonetheless, it’s something to think about.
What say you, anxiously awaiting “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans? Is this illustrious reunion between the brooding Jamie Dorner and inner goddess author EL James just one more sign that the upcoming movie is heading in the right direction? And what of Kendall Jenner being rumored to possibly make an appearance in the sequel film? With the month of September already well underway, we Red Room of Pain aficionados have only roughly five months to go (release date of February 2015) until we can at last see our Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the flesh.
