Although Dakota Johnson is still slated to play Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, some inside sources are alleging that she’s having a “tough” time with Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey dropping out and dealing with all of the media press associated with the upcoming film. Yahoo News shared this Monday, Oct. 14, that Johnson will also likely have the entire cast of “Fifty Shades of Grey” set around her now, seeing that a new male lead now needs to be found, and the first days of filming were scheduled to only be a few weeks away.
The “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie is one sexy, popular, and still controversial film that is no doubt set to make its two leads in Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele the most talked-about actor and actress in 2014 when the film hits the silver screen. Yet for these lucky stars featured in EL James book-into-movie, the fame and fandom can certainly be stressful, and in light of all the recent publicity with Charlie Hunnam dropping out and a new Christian Grey needing to be cast, Dakota Johnson may be feeling the heat.
The 24-year-old Anastasia Steele actress is said to be having a “tough time” handling the pressure (even before filming and production have begun), and was said by the same Yahoo sources to be “overwhelmed with it all.” This may seem a little unsettling to many fellow “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans, considering that the film will definitely need a firm heart given the steamy subject matter.
"Dakota is having a very hard time dealing with all the press. When she first got the role, it was way too much for her," a source told E! News, adding that Dakota went from being virtually unknown to now someone that "everyone wants a piece of".
"It's been tough," the insider added. Word of her role possibly being at risk has also been speculated this week.
After Charlie Hunnam resigned himself as Christian Grey due to alleged scheduling issues (though talk of cold feet in the role has also been rumored), fans are now looking to new actors who will play the casting role of Christian Grey in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie. What’s more, concludes the report, is that the film is now said to be planned with Dakota Johnson as the centerpiece, meaning that the cast will be chosen based around her in order to regain that chemistry needed for the leading parts.
"More than anything he hates attention and being in Fifty Shades of Grey would force him to do lots of media," another source tells E! "That's really not his thing. Charlie doesn't want to be massively famous. Plus, he hates conforming and being told what to do. This role would force him to have to be something he is not."
Dakota Johnson, a new Christian Grey, and the rest of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” cast are still expected to hit theaters Aug. 1 2014, much to many fellow readers’ excitement, but in order to make that happen, things need to start moving, and soon.
What do you think, fans, of Dakota Johnson allegedly having a “tough” time handling the pressure and media at this early point in the movie’s planning? Do you think she will make a good Anastasia Steele when the heat really starts hitting home?
And who do you think might complement her best as a new Christian Grey onscreen? That casting choice may be most pivotal of all.
