The “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie still has not found its casting leads, but according to the latest insiders, we will have “official” role offers made to a potential Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele right after Labor Day. Although The Stir confirmed this Monday, Aug. 26, that only the offers will be made known at that time, it’s very likely that our cast will be announced, depending on the decisions of those to whom auditions have been extended.
For many fans of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” franchise, it’s as if casting for the film will never be made known. Time and again we have heard that Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele are still being sought out, and while definite offers have been made and meetings have taken place, no one has stepped forward to claim the coveted roles quite yet. Most recently, actor Charlie Hunnam has been put into the frontrunner spot as our potential CEO millionaire, while Dakota Johnson is allegedly being eyed to be our submissive female star, though again nothing has been confirmed (or debunked) at this current time.
Whomever your ideal Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele is, however, they will eventually be cast — fear not, fellow fans. According to an inside source, we need to keep our pages ready and our eyes peeled for this Labor Day, as “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie casting announcements have been hinted to be made next week. It is said that soon after Labor Day these “official offers” are going to be made to prospective actors and actresses, and because it’s thought that since these offers usually aren’t announced in and of themselves, an official casting proclamation will be made then.
For many films — “Fifty Shades of Grey” included — the truth is that usually scripts are delivered to many actors (potentially dozens). For nearly all of these actors, none will claim the role — only that lucky one. Save for the A-list actors that a production team is fully set on, all “50 Shades” hopefuls still need to audition for the coveted role. And beyond having to be talented and the right for the specific part, having that on-screen chemistry will be particularly important for Christian and Ana.
What’s more, they have to be crowd pleasers, too. If the fans aren’t happy with casting for our main leads, then the film may not be that powerful an icon that the “Fifty Shades of Grey” novel has become.
Stay tuned, as with an Aug. 1, 2014 film release date confirmed, we can fairly expect some news by Labor Day.
