At long last, the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie has found its Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, and this weekend fans received their first official statement from Hunnam on Grey and his chemistry in auditions with Dakota. Although some fans initially expressed their uncertainty with having these two actors starring as the leads in the “Fifty Shades of Grey,” a majority of readers now seem content with EL James’ choice, and having our Christian Grey open up on his “tangible chemistry” is only the first steamy start, USA Today shares this Sunday, Sept. 8.
Charlie Hunnam recently talked on the red carpet this weekend about the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie, and opened up on his playing of Christian Grey — as well as the chemistry that existed on stage between him and Dakota Johnson, leading him to being offered (and accepting) the white-hot lead role.
"As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us," Hunnam revealed to The Hollywood Reporter. "It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it."
This is quite tantalizing for many fans, and seems to point to the idea that we are (thankfully) in very good hands for the upcoming film. Hunnam did open up as well how “Fifty Shades of Grey” and the erotic themes, including sex scenes with Ana Steele, might affect his relationship with girlfriend Morgana McNelis.
"It's very hard to be with an actor," Hunnam said. "She's required to share parts of me that she wouldn't really want to share. With the nature of this role, that's going to be times 10."
Yet Hunnam said his girlfriend really “loved the [’50 Shades’] books,” so she’ll at least know what to expect, and is in support of her “Sons of Anarchy” boyfriend.
"She read them and loved them and was really excited about the potential of the opportunity for me," said Hunnam. "If anything, I think it will make us closer."
What do you think of this “tangible chemistry” between Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson, our Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie? Here's some history on the two leads as well. Does it make you that much more excited for the film to hit theaters next August? It seems that we fans have a lot to look forward to, so stay tuned.
